Elvis says:

Hi All,
During Movember (the month formerly known as November) I'll be growin a Mo. That's right I'm bringing the Mo back because I'm passionate about changing men's health and the fight against male depression and prostate cancer. Why...

  • Depression affects 1 in 6 men...Most don't seek help. Untreated depression is a leading risk factor for suicide.
  • Last year in Australia 18,700 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer and more than 2,900 died of prostate cancer - equivalent to the number of women who die from breast cancer annually.
  • Men are far less healthy than women. The average life expectancy of males is 5 years less than females.

To sponsor my Mo please go to http://www.movember.com/au/donate, enter my registration number which is 88590 and your credit card details. Or you can sponsor me by cheque made payable to the "Movember Foundation" clearly marking the donation as being for my Registration Number: 88590. Please mail cheques to: PO Box 292, Prahran VIC 3181. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

The money raised by Movember is donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue - the national depression initiative, which will use the funds to create awareness, fund research and increase support networks for those men who suffer from prostate cancer and male depression.

For those that have supported Movember in previous years you can be very proud of the impact it has had and can check out the detail at: Fundraising Outcomes.

Movember culminates at the end of the month at the Gala Partés. These glamorous and groomed events will see Tom Selleck and Borat look-a-likes battle it out for their chance to take home the prestigious Man of Movember title. If you would like to be part of this great night you'll need to purchase a Gala Parté ticket .

Thanks for your support,

Elvis

Elvis Fighting in Cage Rage!

Press Release:
On 9th December 2006 I shall be fighting at Cage Rage 19: Fearless at the prestigious Earl’s Court in London, England.

The Cage Rage Championships have been running for four years and over that time they have moved from 500 capacity venues to sell out shows of 8000 at Wembley Arena. Cage Rage are now the largest MMA organisation in Europe and some argue the third most prestigious organisation in the world after the UFC and Pride. Only six months ago Cage Rage was selling out the Wembley Conference Centre venue to a crowd of 2800. Now, three events later, they have sold out two sell out Wembley Arena shows and have seen a 150% growth in live audience figures. To end on a spectacular year, the Cage Rage team intend for Cage rage 19: Fearless to be the biggest show they’ve had to date.

“For the last two Wembley shows we’ve pulled in some big names, matched some great fights and had an excellent advertising and marketing campaign” said Andy Geer when asked what he thinks the growth of the event is down to. “We just hope that we continue to put on the best shows for true MMA fans as well as encouraging a new audience to help the sport grow.”

And there is no doubt that the profile is growing. Not only in audience terms but across national media. While publishing company IPC continue to be media partners with Cage Rage, over the last six months Cage Rage has had nationwide coverage on ITN, BBC, LBC, Sky One, Talk Sport, The Independent, The People, The Daily Star, Front Magazine as well as continuing to work with the MMA press.

So what have they got in store for me? The fight fixer at Cage Rage, Dave O’Donnell, has set me against one of the best light heavyweight fighters in the UK, Mark ‘The Beast’ Epstein. Mark is the only fighter in the Cage Rage Hall of Fame for holding both the heavyweight and light heavy weight Cage Rage British titles. Mark’s strength is in his striking, with a name like Beast what can you expect! Mark is a real part of the Cage Rage family, having been involved in the organisation for a long time. A crowd favourite especially as London is his home town. Only time will tell the outcome!

So can the Cage Rage Championships keep up the good work? You bet your life! As well as myself fighting, the team have arranged the following fights:
  • An Irish V Brazil stand off between Arni Isaksson and Jean Silva
  • British heavyweight Robert ‘Buzz’ Berry will go against UFC Vet Wesley ‘Cabbage’ Correira
  • Zelg Galesic will get a chance at the British middleweight title against Mark Weir in the penultimate fight of the night.
Now the headline fight… Let’s just say it’s going to be HEAVY! Seriously big… and involves our British Heavy Weight people’s champion Rob Broughton. OK, Eric ‘Butterbean’ Esch will be in the cage against The Bear Broughton.

“As Cage Rage grows so does our reputation within MMA as a top world player” said matchmaker Dave O’Donnell. “And we’ll keep pushing for the big names to put the British fighters out there at the next level and give the MMA fans the best shows in the UK”.

For Australian based fans who won’t be making it over to London you can catch all the live action online. Just go to www.cagerage.tv for instructions on how to watch live on 9th December.

Congrats to Perosh

Elvis' training partner Anthony Perosh made his debut at UFC 61. He faced the tough UFC Veteran Jeff Monson. It was a tough fight where Anthony put in a strong performance. Though he lost the fight, the UFC was impressed and have invited him back again. We look forward to having Anthony compte in the UFC again.
